Special tools, integration and customization
For electrical cable and wire manufacturing, specialized functional modules are required to complete the quality management toolbox in order to achieve a fully-integrated cable management system.
Multiple “turnkey” systems supporting production processes through EDP solution can be found on the market. These solutions, which are often complex in structure are designed for general purposes and cover most of the central functions common to manufacturing industries.
However, for the manufacturers of electrical cables and wires, the situation is particular as most of the data to be processed are not related to quantities, but to the cable length, and this specific type of data is difficult to be handled by any standard system. This means that for electrical cable and wire manufacturing, specialized functional modules are required to complete the quality management toolbox.
AESA Cortaillod has worked in close partnership with companies specialized in cable manufacturing field to offer professional, integrated IT solutions. The CIQ provides a unique, highly effective solution which can be interfaced with the most commonly used ERP or MES, for example. This is a clear step towards achieving a fully-integrated cable management system.
In addition to the checks performed during production processes, special laboratory tests are conducted in parallel outside of the main manufacturing flow. This is done for example for the validation of new products or for type testing. Although the product development and other maintenance functions are not directly involved in the manufacturing flow, these departments play a key role in ensuring the quality of the final product. Gathering data from these other type of tests and combining them with those of the production processes is extremely important in order to insure having the full picture of development, production and testing issues in order to give the full overview of the quality of the end-product.
For this reason AESA has developped special software modules supporting specific tasks such as following examples:
– DRES: Defect Recording and Evaluating System: System to record and evaluate defects that are detected during and after the production process.
– TYPLAB: Type Validation and Specific Laboratory tests: System to guide and manage laboratory tests.
– MEC: Mechanical Cycling Test: Module to perform and monitor performances during long-term tests (e. g. bending tests, drag chain tests)
– DMS: Distributed Monitoring System: to acquire, display and store measurements made in various or other locations (e. g. heating cabinets)
- CIQ 3.0 a unique system combining state-of-the-art cable manufacturung and IT know-how
- Can be integrated into any production facility thanks to its multiples interfaces to any EDP system
- The CIQ offers specific additional modules to effectively carry out the tasks related to product development and maintenance.
